Model assumptions

The list follows common chart-pattern terminology and translates each shape into explicit, reusable rules: local pivots, least-squares trend lines, fit tolerance, and configurable touches. For line-based setups, a completed bar near a boundary creates the signal; the next open is the entry, the projected opposite line is the target, and the touched line is the stop boundary plus its buffer. “Pattern bias” uses the conventional direction; choosing long or short deliberately tests the other boundary.

Choose Fixed % exits to use the take-profit and stop-loss controls for every pattern, or leave Auto on to use line exits when both lines are available. Target buffer permits a slightly early line touch; stop buffer places the stop beyond the entry line. Stops win when a daily bar touches both stop and target. Commission and slippage are charged on both sides. These are exploratory definitions, not investment advice; changing the tolerances can change the result materially.

Definitions are informed by public chart-pattern references from StockCharts ChartSchool, Fidelity, and IG. The API serves split-adjusted daily bars; no intraday path, dividends, borrow, or corporate-action timing beyond the adjustment is modeled.
