ElastiCache / Memcache / Reddis is the dev equivalent of America.

In life, you’ll always meet those assholes that say those truisms, that you know is true, but you hate them for stating the obvious. The obvious is mundane and boring… The kind of reason why you just don’t do it. Sure you’re suppose to exercise, and eat like a rabbit — but this culture’s about fucking and eating steaks sautéed in mayo while smoking cigarettes on a treadmill.

It just doesn’t make a whole lot of fucking sense, but that kind of thinking makes us special too. 

In programming, we have this truism called “there’s a right tool for everything”. The reality is that yes, everything has it’s strengths and weaknesses to it. It’s just another null statement that masks itself as some zen koan voodoo shit. A child in field saying banana, has the equivalent mental depth. 

You just sit and blink.

Take a scalpel for example. It’s a focused tool, and yes it’s very good at what it does. It’s so good at what it does, that we start trying to use it at the dinner table, to threaten people with, and sometimes as chisel or a screwdriver. Not really what it’s meant for, but we do it anyway.
